About the role:
We are recruiting for a hands-on CTO who will take full ownership of the product architecture, technical output, technical strategy and roadmap, technical teams and technical culture.
You will work with the Business and Product teams to ensure the Development Team is aligned and delivering meaningful output with the relevant user and strategic objectives in mind.
The role ultimately not only entails having direct involvement in technology development, but also co-ordination and management of all technical work completed by internal team members and external consultants.
To succeed in this role, you should be a perceptive and creative leader, a strong team player, have excellent technical and communication skills and be a dynamic problem-solver. You will also show confidence and have a knack for knowing what ideas will and won’t work.
You must be able to demonstrate the following:
Develop and lead the technology roadmap, vision and strategy that ensures the company platform will meet existing and future needs of scale, stability, performance and usability.
Cultivate and drive a high performing team of developers to meet the long and short-term company objectives.
Empowering and inspiring the Development Team to build solutions and enable stronger collaboration internally and across the company.
Define the Development Team organisational structure and people plan within budget.
Help Development Team Leads plan and prototype new features, debug problems, and build stable foundations for their projects.
Advise Business Units across the company on technology improvements for their roles, provide any help necessary to plan and implement these changes.
Maintain a customer-first approach when delivering technical projects for the company.
Evaluate and lead the planning and implementation of solution architecture, tech stack, and development methodologies and tools.
Develop processes, plans and tracking to sustain high security standards across HealthShare's products.
Owning HealthShare's reputation in the tech community.
Oversee HealthShare’s international expansion from a technical perspective.
Skills and attributes
5+ years of management experience building and managing a multi-disciplinary development team against a product roadmap with clear delivery milestones.
Must have worked as manager of managers at a prior technology company (e.g. CTO, Dir/VP Engineering, CEO/Founder).
Experience working in a fast-paced startup/scaleup-type environment.
Strong background as a software engineer.
An excellent understanding of technical fundamentals and agile delivery.
Bachelor’s degree or higher in a technical or scientific field. Software engineering, computer science, or electrical engineering preferred.
Demonstrated experience driving delivery and building great relationships with a dynamic team of developers, designers and product managers.
An outcomes-focused and results oriented mindset.
Experience with Google Cloud environments desirable.
Experience with Python, React and .net desirable.
