HealthShare and Lyrebird Health expand partnership to support GP referrals

HealthShare, creator of Australia’s leading Specialist and Allied Health Directory, has expanded its partnership with Lyrebird Health, the leading Australian AI Medical Scribe, becoming the default provider directory when GPs write referral letters in Lyrebird. 

HealthShare’s nationwide directory, already used by more than 26,000 GPs every month through their clinical software, now integrates directly into Lyrebird’s referral workflow – so when Lyrebird drafts a referral letter, the GP can choose the recipient from HealthShare’s extensive network of specialists and allied health providers. 

For GPs using Lyrebird with Best Practice, that means access to a much broader range of specialists and allied health providers while drafting the referral letter – allowing them to find and add the right provider without having to rely on their practice’s existing contacts or search for the details elsewhere. 

HealthShare’s Referrals directory contains information about a provider’s specialty, sub-specialties, special interest areas, languages spoken, gender, next available appointment time, gap scheme participation and more. 

How it works

A GP seeing a patient with diabetes might reach the end of a consult needing four referrals: a dietitian, a podiatrist, an optometrist and a diabetes educator. Lyrebird identifies the referrals discussed and drafts all four letters together. 

Each letter is personalised for its recipient, uses the practice’s own Best Practice template and letterhead, and includes the patient’s details, relevant history, medications, allergies and the reason for referral. 

When the GP goes to select a provider, HealthShare’s directory is available by default alongside the practice’s Best Practice address book, and the letter saves directly to Correspondence Out in Best Practice afterwards ready to send.

The directory integration builds on an existing collaboration between HealthShare and Lyrebird. Lyrebird also uses HealthShare’s pre-consultation smart clinical questionnaire, BetterConsult, to help practices capture patient consent for AI scribing before a consultation. Over 97% of patients provide consent through this workflow, saving the GP valuable time at the beginning of the consult.
